Hair Replacement: On the Cutting Edge of Technology
I found this great article on hair replacement treatment that puts the whole hair replacement phenomenon into perspective. Treatments for hair loss range from unnatural-looking transplants to sophisticated drugs, hair transplant surgery to cloning individual hair cells. According to the FDA, 40 million men and 20 million women have experienced hair loss.
If there is a silver lining, the drug called Finasteride or Propecia might be the answer. It was first developed to treat an enlarged prostate and was later found to start the regrowth of hair follicles in men especially when using it after first noticing thinning hair. Light or laser therapy may also restore hair in the future. David Michaels, managing director and developer of HairMax Lasercomb, has developed a comb that emits light energy to stimulate hair growth. Clinical studies have shown hair growth on an average of 93% in just 4 months with this comb. Just think...growing hair might just be as easy as combing your hair!
